When you forward an email normally you're basically copy and pasting the words into a new message. All the technical information like the structure and where it came from gets lost. If you send an email as an attachment, all of that information is preserved. This is helpful when it comes to tracking down malicious actors, and finding out why something went to junk mail.
Outlook 2013/2016
You have three options! Select the email you want to send and:
- Press Ctrl-Alt-F
or
- Click More respond options and then Forward as Attachment
or
- Click and drag the email you want to forward into a new email
Office 365 (OWA/Outlook Online)
Find the email you want to send and click and drag it into a new message.
